Sun Connect Solar Panel Testimonial
Andrew, a Sun Connect customer from Geelong, talking about his recent investment in solar...
The need for Solar to strengthen global position
To keep up with the rest of the world; Australia needs to ‘up the ante’ by growing the solar energy production and the use of renewable power systems within the next five years, due to our underdeveloped industry.

Below are some of the reasons for converting to solar...
Renewable
Solar energy will not run out until the sun stops shining (in a few billion years). We cannot use it up, like we can do with fossil fuels (natural gas, oil, coal). The sparser the world fuel resources become, the more expensive they will be. Fossil fuels will eventually end, but before they do, their price will keep increasing day by day.
Environmentally-Friendly
Sun Connects' solar energy systems benefit the environment. Even though there is some minimal pollution created in the process of solar device manufacturing, it's nothing compared to what is emitted by fossil fuels, including greenhouse gases and carcinogens. The use of fossil fuels contributes to global warming, smog, and acid rain. Furthermore, fossil fuels create the need to store dangerous radioactive waste.
Silent
In comparison to other renewable energy sources (wind and water), Sun Connect's solar devices make absolutely no noise during their operation. Wind and water power generators produce a lot of noise, which may be frowned upon by neighbors of the homeowner who started to use a wind or water power generator.
Low-Maintenance
Sun Connects solar devices have no moving parts in their design, which means that they don't require special protection (like windmills, for example). Solar installations can last for decades, with little to no maintenance required.
Cost-Effective
Solar energy benefits your pocket. Solar powered systems obviously require an initial investment. However, in the long run there are next to no ongoing costs (especially with the warranties that some companies are offering. Any homeowner will be able to reduce their electric bill, while some lucky individuals will even be able to generate excess electric and sell it to their local utility company. Using your local electric grid for lighting, heating, and cooling a home is one of the largest expenses that a regular home incurs. For instance, a single 100-watt light bulb that is constantly on will cost as much as $100 annually.
Government incentives
There are two main Government incentives in play in Australia. Firstly you have the Government rebate (Renewable Energy Certificates RECs) on all solar panel purchases which can cover as much as 60%-70% of your solar investment.
Then there are Feed-in tariffs (FITs). FITs reimburse you for any power your solar electricity system feeds back into the grid. They’re designed to encourage more Australians to generate their own electricity.
Thanks to increased State Government solar feed-in tariffs in Queensland, South Australia and Victoria, you could now be paid up to double the price you pay for energy exported back into the grid from your solar electricity system if you’re on a net metered arrangement - that means you’re paid for the surplus electricity your system feeds back into the grid when it generates more power than your home uses at the time of generation.
Autonomous
If you need to power a home in a remote location, a solar power generator may be the most practical and cost-effective option. Furthermore, your home will be protected from any power outages.
Easy to Install
Solar energy benefits include the ease of installation. Even though solar systems vary in their complexity, many of them are easy for anyone to install (e.g., outdoor solar lights don't even require any wiring). Do-it-yourself enthusiasts even find it easy to install regular solar panels and devices, with the aid of a good instruction manual.
The next steps for you:
- Decide what size system you would like
- Determine your budget
- Shortlist a provider
- Organise an online or face to face inspection of your roof
- Organise install date
- Track solar statistics
Government incetives
Not only does the Government provide a rebate on your purchase (over $6000) they also provide a Feed-In Tariff which is a dollar amount credited back to you very every unit of energy your solar panels pump back into the grid! In Victoria this is currently 66c per unit, which doesn't sound like much, but over a quarter can be several hundred dollars, which has lead to many of our customers having credit bills over the $500 mark.
